Welcome to My Makerspace
Over the years I've tried my creative hand at jewelry making, painting vinyl records, arranging flat-lays for product photography shoots, and flipping old furniture into something new.
While I am admittedly an extreme perfectionist, crafting and learning new maker skills reminds me that imperfection is okay..and fun!

Jewelry Making
Inspiration
2020 was the year of a lot of big changes in my life.
One for the obvious reason and the other finding out the news that my grandmother's dementia was quickly worsening.
My grandmother is my best friend and I spent a lot of time with her throughout my childhood and into my adult life.

How It Started
Because of Dementia, it became hard to know what to do when I would spent time with my grandma. So we decided to start going through her collection of clothing, jewelry, and accessories.
She was kind enough to give me a lot of pieces, some of which were broken or tarnished and unwearable.
I decided to give them a modern facelift and together we planned out new ideas for jewelry design from previously treasured items.
Side Hustle
What started as a fun way to spend time together turned into more when friends showed interest in buying a pair of earrings I had on. So I decided to start a mini side hustle.
I made a lot more pieces! *see below

That's Me!
I held my first pop-up shop for Recollect Modern Vintage at VCU Brandcenter in December 2021.
I was also able to hold a pop-up shop at the VCU Shift Retail Lab Holiday Market. It was so rewarding to actually sell my jewelry and share my grandmother’s stories with customers.
Currently, you can find Recollect Modern Vintage on Instagram @recollectmodernvintage
Vinyl Painting
Revamp Vinyl
My dad has an enormous vinyl collection. We've spent a lot of time listening to old records.
Only one small problem...some of his records were so old they were too scratched to play. We spent an entire day sifting through the old records to be thrown away.
I was sad to see them thrown into the trash, so I decided to revamp them into pieces of art. I chose a few records to paint and decided on artwork based on the song title and/or history of the artist.

Graphic Design
Before becoming an Experience Designer, I worked as a Freelance Graphic Designer for a variety of companies, small businesses, and non-profit organizations.
My favorite work has been with United Way South Hampton Roads, where I was able to see the direct impact of my work within the community.

Product Photography
The Designer Workshop
I worked as a social media manager and product photographer for an interior design resource center specializing in custom creations and modern design.
I was able to photograph decor, furniture, interiors, fabric flat-lays, florals and more! All content was used for social media, promotional materials, and website design.

Planet Pizza Virginia Beach
Fun fact: I worked in the restaurant industry since I was 14 years old.
I've done just about every job there is, but the best has been working on branding and identity for this family-owned business. & yes, you bet Uranus its good pizza.
I also designed the logo, website, and run all social media pages for Planet Pizza. Check those out here: Planet Pizza
