The Problem
Banking, finance, and neurodiversity

Neurodivergence can affect someone’s life in a number of ways, and banking and finance are no exception.
There’s a wide range of barriers that neurodivergent individuals can face when it comes to baking and financial management.
User Research
Understanding your finances
Despite personal finance being a part of everyday life, many of us lack the knowledge to ensure our financial success. Living with a learning disability makes this knowledge even harder to attain.
Lacking personalization
People living with neurodivergence process information in various ways and it's about time financial education caters to various learning styles.
Financial anxiety
It is clear that the current financial landscape has left many neurodiverse people with feelings of anxiety and tangibly worse financial health.
More than 25% of autistic people and those with ADHD do not feel confident about managing their money and are reluctant to ask for help.

The Opportunity
Innovate banking in the name of neurodivergence

Barclay’s believes everyone should know how your bank works, where your money moves, and all the knowledge necessary to ensure financial success, whether you have one dollar in the bank or one million.

They want to make banking that bit easier by providing tools and support to help people manage their money better and, as a result, improve their quality of life.
How might we use technology and innovation to develop a new digital experience, service or tool that can help Barclays meet the banking needs of neurodivergent individuals?

Case Study D&AD Submission 2023
Innovative solutions for neurodivergent individuals
My parents consistently emphasized the importance of 'taking charge of my finances' and 'learning about the future of my finances.' Navigating this financial landscape always seemed challenging, and I continue to find it a complex journey.

As a neurodivergent individual myself, I sought collaboration with my teammates to address a significant problem affecting many.
Throughout this journey, I not only gained valuable insights into personal finance but also discovered the diverse struggles people face. The experience exposed me to innovative approaches to enhance financial literacy and support others in their financial well-being.
